Wait, didn’t you do another Kickstarter before? What happened to that one? There was a previous Kickstarter campaign launched by the original developers of the game, a studio called Overgrown. Crytivo was only involved as a publishing partner at that time. Unfortunately, despite the campaign’s success, the original team ran into significant challenges and the project came to a standstill. Eventually, the team disbanded, and the game was at risk of being completely abandoned. We decided to step in, purchase the rights to the project, and rebuild it with a new in-house team. It’s important to note that we didn’t receive any funds from the original Kickstarter campaign. Since then, we’ve been fully funding development ourselves for the past few years. We made a promise to the original backers: you will receive your rewards, and we aim to match - or even exceed - what was originally offered. There’s no need for previous backers to pledge again. Over time, we’ve received a ton of requests from the community asking for a chance to join the development journey and get early access to the game. After many discussions, the community showed overwhelming support and excitement for a new Kickstarter campaign. Beyond funding, this campaign is about giving more people the opportunity to be part of the project, grow our amazing community, and continue building something special together.

Why the name was changed from Farm Folks to Autonomica? The name was changed from Farm Folks to Autonomica to better reflect the evolution of the game - while staying true to its farming roots, we introduced exciting new layers like automation and production to enhance, not replace, the core farming experience. From the very beginning, farming has been - and still is - the heart of the game. You’ll still plant, water, harvest, raise animals, and care for your land just like before. What changed over time was the scale and the freedom we wanted to give players. As we expanded the game, we realized that many players enjoyed growing larger farms and managing more complex tasks. That’s when the idea of automation naturally grew - from small tools like automated sprinklers to full production systems that help you process your farm goods into things like cheese, milk, bread, and even pizza. But make no mistake: farming is still front and center. The crops you grow, the animals you raise, and the care you put into your land are what fuel all the exciting new possibilities. Automation is there to support your farming journey - not replace it. Think of it as a helping hand that lets you scale up your operation, not a requirement or a distraction from the joy of growing and nurturing your farm. We also noticed that the name Farm Folks, while nostalgic and beloved, gave many the impression that this was a more limited, traditional farming sim. As we started adding deeper features - like exploring the world, adventuring with friends, and building an economy around your produce - it became clear the game was growing into something bigger and more ambitious. After talking with our community and running polls, we decided to give the game a new name that captured this broader vision: Autonomica. The name Autonomica was chosen to represent the world we’re building - a world where autonomous systems and smart technology enhance everyday life for both players and the locals. It’s not just about automating one feature; it’s about creating a living, breathing environment where autonomy plays a central role in making life more enjoyable, efficient, and immersive. Autonomica reflects a future-forward world - where your farm, your community, and even the broader ecosystem evolve through intelligent design and innovation, all while keeping the warmth and charm of farming at its core.

Is Autonomica a free-to-play game? What will be its cost?Autonomica might offer a free-to-play experience, but the main game will be paid. We are still determining the pricing and will provide more information as it becomes available.
-
What platforms will Autonomica be available on?Initially, Autonomica will be released on PC. Afterward, we plan to expand to various consoles and are actively considering a release for the Nintendo Switch 2, contingent upon game performance. Our goal is to make Autonomica accessible on as many platforms as possible.

I backed Farm Folks on Itch, Humble, or Kickstarter. How will I receive my rewards?Crytivo, while not having received any funds from the original funding campaigns, is committed to doing our best to fulfill the promises made by the original developers. Given the evolution in game design, some changes to the original rewards may be necessary. We plan to align these with new rewards from the upcoming Kickstarter campaign, substituting any altered rewards with new ones. Legacy backers will not need to back the new Kickstarter again, unless they wish to increase or alter their tier. They can expect to receive rewards equivalent to their original backing amount. We appreciate your understanding as we navigate these changes and strive to deliver a satisfying experience for all our supporters.

What happened to the original development of Farm Folks? The original development of Farm Folks faced significant challenges, leading to a situation where the project could no longer be continued by the initial team. At this critical juncture, Crytivo stepped in to rescue the game from being shut down. Their intervention ensures that Farm Folks will not only be completed but will also benefit from Crytivo's extensive experience and commitment to game development, potentially enhancing the game's scope and quality. Will there still be an Alpha/Beta for people that backed the game previously?Yes, there will indeed be an Alpha/Beta for early backers of Farm Folks. Following the successful Kickstarter campaign we're planning, the Alpha/Beta release will be scheduled. This approach ensures that our early supporters are among the first to experience the game as it evolves under the new development. We value the patience and dedication of our fans as we work towards these exciting milestones.
